About Erika

I am a third generation horsewoman. I grew up in San Diego. My family bred Arabians and I was lucky to grow up riding these smart, versatile and often highly sensitive horses from a very young age. I have participated in all the disciplines in some way but my main focus during most of my riding career was Dressage.

I received my degree in Writing from UC San Diego and found myself writing for Dressage Today magazine and Arabian Horse World. However, I ended up with a barn full of students and horses in Del Mar, California- which was never my plan- and trained professionally for almost 10 years. My students won in Regional and National competitions all over the US.

After spending most of my youth and adult life in the horse world, I left horses and the horse business in 2009 to pursue other interests.

I have had a lifetime of family support as a horseperson, as well as the mentorship of many top horseman and horsewomen who taught me over the years.

I am known for teaching students how to use their mind AND their body to get the most out of their horses- I have a knack for communicating brass tacks horsemanship to those who want to overcome their fears and enjoy their relationship with their horse.

I am trained as a Theta Healer, Yoga Teacher, Reiki Level 2 Practitioner and have spent most of my non-horse life focused on meditation, self-development and mindset. These influences are often felt in my teaching style.

I currently divide my time between Baja and California. I am available to teach in both Mexico and the US.

I spend most of my time with my young horse Beso and my ranch dog Nina.
